The operator of the vehicle must:
- Be alert, well-rested, and sober before operating the vehicle.
- Run through vehicle status checklist before operating the vehicle (gas, tire pressure, general vehicle condition, lighting).
- Remain sober during the duration of vehicle of operation.
- Be accompanied by an assistant operator to assist with these responsibilities, when the car is driving with more than four passengers or at night.
- Ensure that speed is less than 5mph, with a target speed of 3-4mph.
- Ensure all passengers in a state to ride the car safely, including entry/exit, before allowing them on the vehicle, while politely refusing those who are not.
- Ensure that the vehicle is safe to move before moving, by performing a vehicle walk around when the vehicle has been stopped more than intermittently, and by ensuring that all passengers are safely aboard and seated.
- Make sure that passengers stay sitting within the edges of the vehicle, with feet on or inside the bottom book step.
The assistant operator must:
- Be alert, well-rested, and sober before assisting with operation of the vehicle.
- Guide the vehicle in difficult conditions, such as low visibility, crowded areas, or during reversing.
- Keep aware of obstacles, pedestrians, darkwads, other mutant vehicles and other hazards, particularly those in the path of the vehicle.
- Assist with emergency management if necessary.
- Assist with the operator responsibilities listed above.
Entry / Exit
- Participants may only embark or disembark the vehicle when fully stopped.
- The driver should always be aware of who is embarking and disembarking, and will not move until all passengers are seated. The driver can make visual contact will all passengers due to the design of the vehicle.
